Been on your holidays? So have our cows!

We hope you’ve enjoyed a relaxing break or two over the holiday season. And we’re glad we can say the same for some of Swillington’s four-legged residents!While we’ve been hard at work, our cattle and Hebridean sheep have been kicking back on St Aidans’ Nature Reserve, just a few miles down the road.The reserve is managed by the RSPB, and our stock have been grazing it as part of a conservation scheme.The traditional breeds we have are ideal for grazing the mix of rough grasses, herbs and rushes, and the vegetation needs to be controlled to provide the ideal habitat for waders and other birds.Our silage contractor sent us these photos from his tractor of the cows having a paddle, and they certainly seem to be enjoying their trip!
